Fireys get fudge jar funds

Earlier this year (in our January 31 edition) we reported on local family business, A.K. Cabinets, donating $600 to the Jackson Hepner Foundation. Well, Alf and Janet have done it again after another successful fundraising year and were able to donate $1000 to the Stanmore Rural Fire Brigade.
Alf explained that each year throughout the NRL (National Rugby League) season, whenever a player is caught swearing on TV a gold coin gets dropped into the “fudge jar”. Alf said “it’s a fun way to raise money”, plus they also get others to donate extra money at their annual Christmas party. The savings from this year’s efforts equalled $1000, which the couple decided to donate to a local charity.
After the recent bushfires, Alf and Janet chose the Stanmore Rural Fire Brigade to help them prepare for what is expected to be a busy and dry summer.
Alf and Janet would like to encourage anyone else thinking of donating to local charities, to consider all our local rural fire brigades who do such a great job keeping our communities safe.
