Generosity of Maleny golfers to cancer care centre

Bloomhill Cancer Care’s Buderim Centre now has an additional $750 in its kitty this year, thanks to the generosity of Maleny Golf Club member Stan Toleman, his family and golfing friends and acquaintances.

The funds were raised as a result of a Mixed 4-Ball competition at Maleny Golf Club sponsored by Stan to thank the Bloomhill Cancer Care Centre and their staff for all the support they’d given him during his battle with the disease.

Maleny Golf Club President Jeff Kruse said Stan had sadly passed away on 31 December, 2020 before the event could be organised and held.

“However, we remained committed to honouring his request and his family generously offered $500 to sponsor the competition which attracted a field of almost 60 players – the majority of whom were fellow members,” he said.

“Stan was very fond of the golf club and over an extended period he saved us significant costs through freely volunteering his professional skills as an electrical engineer,” Mr Kruse said.

“He was also an active member of our future clubhouse subcommittee and drafted preliminary concept designs for us by drawing on experience from his involvement in designing the club house for the Maroochy River Golf Club where he also was a member.”

Vale Stan Toleman. Thank you for your generous contribution of your time and skills for the betterment of the Maleny Golf Club and may you rest in peace.
