Maleny Music Festival celebrates 10 years with inspirational line-up

The hills will certainly be alive this November as Maleny Music Festival celebrates its 10th annual event with an inspirational three-day program of music, workshops and events.

This year’s family-friendly festival will feature over 200 artists performing in a packed program of musically inspired goodness. With acts from Melbourne, Sydney, Northern NSW as well as Brisbane and across the Sunshine Coast; a wide genre of music is catered for, from contemporary folk and funk to alt country, hot bluegrass, ska and blues and even a bit of trance to ‘doof’ it up.

Often described as an intimate, friendly and joyful event, the event draws in an eclectic mix of performers and festival attendees alike. Originally started in 2012, the event was initially conceived as way to mark the 25th Anniversary of the original Maleny Folk Festival which subsequently re-located to Woodford in 1994 and morphed into the much bigger ‘Woodford Folk Festival’.

Maleny Music Festival seeks to emanate some of that original folk festival spirit with a musician driven, collective community vibe that underscores a high calibre performance schedule. With music across four stages plus a session/ jamming marquee and a dedicated ‘Children’s Program’ it has something for all ages.

Program Director David De Santi said he was hugely excited to have worked closely with previous Festival Director Noel Gardner in selecting 70 acts to be part of the 10th celebration. “It is going to be one incredible musical party with over 140 events from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon. The Maleny Showgrounds will be transformed into a global village with music and food. It’s a fantastic opportunity to see a huge array of local, Brisbane and interstate talent,” he said.

Noel Gardner said as the former Director of the Festival for the first eight years he was very excited to see this MMF 10th Festival Celebration  going ahead after a few lost years due to COVID.

“It is so heart-warming to see a fabulous new organising group now in charge and I think the Festival has a solid future ahead of it. Every year has its new challenges but with the top line up of SE Queensland and interstate performers I have no doubt this has the potential to be the best festival yet,” he said.

Onsite camping is available very close to the venues, the festival starts at 4.30pm Friday November 10 and runs through to Sunday November 12. Both single and three day tickets available online at www.malenymusic festival.com and all info is on the Festival’s Facebook page.
