Lions drop in to Glasshouse

AFL stars meet and greet local kids

SIX players from the Brisbane Lions AFL Club dropped down to Skippy Park on January 25, throwing a ball, doing meet and greets, and signing autographs for the Glasshouse Hinterland AFL Club.
The players donated their time away from the club’s pre-season camp on the Sunshine Coast.
Midfielders Josh Dunkley, Harry Sharp along with defenders Darragh Joyce and Jack Payne and forwards James Tunstill and Brandon Ryan all talked to aspiring stars and helped with some key drills.
Glasshouse Hinterland AFL Club president and senior coach, Dean Crooks, said everyone from parents to kids had a blast and emphasised the importance of events like these to increase exposure.
“Sunny Coast is the fastest growing region in the country and Queensland are the fastest growing AFL state, so getting these players to visit helps us gain exposure and attract more junior players,” Dean said.
The kids got a chance to train with the players, working on basic ball skills for 30 minutes, followed by a meet and greet and sausage sizzle put on by Bank of Queensland Beerwah.
