DIVISION 1 Councillor, Jenny Broderick, attended her first event as councillor for the region, announcing a new reading initiative in Baringa on April 10.
A book locker, also known as an express library, was installed at the Baringa Community Centre. Residents have access to a vending machine style system of up to 160 books, offering a range of genres for all readers. Cr Broderick said the initiative provides full library members convenience and greater access to books.
“It is simple to use, conveniently located and will encourage reading within this growing community,” she said.
“This new service helps us connect and engage with our community to build a better future for everyone.” It will be open Monday to Friday 9am-3pm.
