Police seek female witness in missing person case

POLICE are seeking a female witness who may have seen a man who has been missing from Montville since January 18.

Sunshine Coast police today revealed new information about the last time Edan Huntington, 28, was seen, with a new witness telling police they saw Mr Huntington’s vehicle parked in the middle of Main Road in the vicinity of an unknown woman on January 18.

The Gold Coast man was staying at a holiday home with his father when he left suddenly in the early hours of the morning.

Speaking to media today, Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Mansfield has urged that potential witness to come forward to police.

“We have a witness come forward to say the missing person’s vehicle was parked in the middle of Main Road, Montville, and a female was seen walking in the vicinity of the vehicle about 100m away from it,” he said.

“We are appealing for this woman to come forward if she has any further information whether she spoke to our missing person or any other information she might be able to provide us with to assist us.”

Police said they are unaware of the identity of the woman, but believed there was no personal connection to the missing person.

“We have tried to identify this person ourselves, but we need some public assistance is doing so, it’s one of the most recent leads that we have,” Det Snr Sgt Mansfield said.

“It has extended the time out to 4:12am which Edan was last seen, so that gives us a bit of direction of travel that we didn’t have before and was the only other witness seen around that time.

“We don’t believe that she was related or dating the missing person, we believe Edan left the address on his own accord in his vehicle, there was no one else in that vehicle with him then.”

Detective Senior Sergeant Mansfield added that the case is not being treated as suspicious, however despite little information on where Edan may have gone, believe he might have had a car accident.

“There’s nothing to suggest this is suspicious at this point in time, we do know Edan was potentially under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time he left,” he said.

“We do know he appeared to be a bit agitated as he left in that vehicle, so he could have… potentially driven off somewhere and had a traffic accident.

“His last phone call was at about 4:07am in the morning, and that was to Queensland Ambulance where he was asking for help and that he was lost.”

Edan has not accessed his bank accounts since he went missing and family and friends are all extremely concerned about his welfare.
