Staying independent and connected

AS well as living longer than previous generations, many people aged 65 and older have changing ambitions and lifestyle goals, with ageing well a priority.

The Glass House Mountains Neighbourhood Centre, in collaboration with aged care specialists and local medical professionals, is proudly hosting a free community forum on maintaining independence, staying connected and ageing well on Tuesday October 19, at 9.30am.

The forum will feature a diverse list of guest speakers including clinical gerontologist Alison Argo, financial protection advisor and counsellor Lola Mashado and senior representatives from specialist support organisations Home Instead and Relationships Australia Queensland. The forum includes a complementary lunch and presentation on how to navigate aged care services.

Attendees will learn about developing skills to enhance their independence and enjoy engaging and informative discussions on topics such as how to safeguard finances and improve mental health, and the many benefits of maintaining social connections. The forum will also be a wonderful opportunity to connect with others in the community.

This is a free event but places are limited. RSVP to admin@ghmnc.com or call 5438 7000. The Glass House Mountains Neighbourhood Centre is located at 1 Ryan Street, Glass House Mountains, opposite the Post Office.
