Street name a safety threat

A BEERWAH street name was changed from the identical name of a Glass House Mountains road because of the risk of emergency services being called to the wrong address.

As revealed by GC&M News last edition Mountain View Place in Beerwah was renamed Mountain Breeze Place to avoid confusion after residents complained  that they had been dealing with wrong deliveries for months.

Glass House resident Vikki Bartel had petitioned the council to change the name.

Council said it changed the name because of “serious threats” to public safety.

“Queensland emergency services had advised council that the identical street naming in Glass House and Beerwah has the potential to create confusion and serious threats to public safety due to delays in response times by emergency services,” a council spokesperson said.

“As per standard practice, in instances where street or road name duplications are identified, on May 17 council informed property owners at Mountain View Place in Beerwah their street name would be changed to Mountain Breeze Place.”
