Transforming Coochin Creek to Coachella

PLANS for Australia’s largest musical festival site have been unveiled with the developer saying it would generate millions in local tourism on the Sunshine Coast.
The site off Roys Road at Coochin Creek is currently agricultural land.
The venue, known as Coochin Fields is expected to host up to six events per year.
Plans were recently lodged with the Sunshine Coast Council by the Comiskey Group.
The group first proposed the plan in 2022, but was delayed due to Covid and issues with international travel as well as logistical issues.
Comiskey said it had already attracted national interest from a number of entertainment providers, securing events for the venue, expected to open in two years time.
“Some of the largest Australian and international touring companies and festivals have already shown substantial interest in holding events at Coochin Fields,” it said.
Coochin Fields will consist of three distinct use areas at the venue, including an event camping area in the northern and southern portions of the site, event parking in the southwestern portion of the site and of course the festival and event site, contained within the southern section of the site.
“When not in use for events the site will present as a nature reserve / open space area providing a symbiotic expansion of the adjoining Pumicestone National Park’s natural assets,” it said.
The application states it will generate tourist attraction to the region too, including 69,467 visitors per year, 277,867 visitor nights per year and $95m in visitor expenditure.
