Disaster prepping

On Saturday June 4, an education session was held to prepare the community for natural disasters. The event was organised by the Glasshouse Country Disaster Management Network (GCDMN) and hosted at Church on the Rise in Beerwah. Guest speakers from HQ Plantations, Sunshine Coast Regional Council and the Rural Fire Brigade presented on various topics to help people prepare for fires, floods and other extreme weather events. The day was complete with a coffee van, Rotary sausage sizzle and prize giveaways, including one lucky person who won a generator. The overall message was “everyone has a part to play” to create a strong resilient region that is able to respond, recover and adapt to disaster events.
