Motorcycles and mopeds targeted over Christmas break in Sunshine Coast

SUNSHINE Coast Police are warning the local district of an increase in motorcycle and moped thefts since Thursday December 22, offering some tips to prevent theft.

Senior Constable Rebecca McMeniman said many of the stolen vehicles were simply rolled away without any keys, which prompted an important reminder from the Constable.

“Police…remind vehicle owners to be security conscious and implement crime prevention tips to help reduce chances of theft,” she said.

“Always use the handle/bar/fork lock on your motorcycles, secure your motorcycle or moped in a secure place at all times, vary your parking habits and park your motorcycle in well-lit areas.”

From December 22 to December 27, two motorcycles and one moped had been stolen from various locations across the Sunshine Coast, however no thefts have been reported in the Hinterland.
