STUDENTS, parents, teachers, and principals from five local state high schools including Beerwah and Maleny State High, rocked up for the SURGE High School Rock Spectacular launch held at Mooloolaba Music Centre on Wednesday July 13. It was a stellar night of live music, short videos, and networking for the approximately 70 guests in attendance.

Attendees were able to participate in a Q&A forum, with a panel made up of special guests from the music industry including Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson, Head of Music at USC Dr Andy Ward, Head of TAFE at School Queensland Bernadette Wilson, and team members from Caloundra Music Festival and Mooloolaba Music Centre.

Mike Turner from Beerwah State High school said it was an incredible night that had everyone involved really engaged and excited about the showcase at the Events Centre on August 17. He said the key theme of the event was about young people championing positive mental health through music, with an aim to help young aspiring musicians make important connections that will help them find their career pathway in music.

“It was incredible to see the generosity of talented and accomplished music industry leaders, who have been willing and excited about investing time into young local rock bands through this event,” said Mike. Tickets for the event are on sale through the Events Centre website from Monday July 25.
