Hinterland venue is set to host Festival of Small Halls Summer show in December

BEERWAH Community Hall has just been announced as the Hinterland host venue for the Festival of Small Halls Summer Tour 2023. Presented by Woodfordia Inc, the team behind the world-renowned Woodford Folk Festival, the Festival of Small Halls is Australia’s largest regional music tour and it’s coming to (Beerwah) town December 8!

With 18 stops at communities across Queensland, the 2023 tour marks the 9th edition of the coastal Queensland run that kicks off in Cairns on November 28 and concludes at Woodford Folk Festival from December 27. Featuring award winning Scottish instrumental folk trio Assynt supported by Australian songstress Jackie Marshall, the tour offers local communities the opportunity to experience some of the world’s best folk and contemporary acoustic artists up close and personal.

Tour producer, Isobel Bartlett, said Festival of Small Halls allowed both the artists and the audience to celebrate and foster community spirit, resilience, and passion.

“We’re so grateful to be welcomed into these amazing small towns, and to put shows on with our incredibly talented dynamic artists. Together, we forge events that are retold as stories for years to come,” she said.

Since launching in 2018, headlining act Assynt are renowned for their powerful and intuitive stage show and tight-knit fiddle and pipe playing blend. The band have been looking forward to touring Australia for over four years, and audiences will experience first-hand the band’s engagingly contemporary original melodies inspired by the historic piping, fiddle and Gaelic traditions of the Highlands of Scotland.

Jackie Marshall is a folk musician, singer and songwriter who brings a genuine warmth, energy and presence to her performances. Heavily influenced by the Western folk and country music of the 1960s and 1970’s. Jackie said she was looking forward to sharing her unique personal and personable style with intrepid music lovers.
